Ethan gravitates towards music that stands the test of time, with clarity and subtlety. His approach is about mood, honesty, and letting the music breathe.
Music is my education, and I welcome you to share every step with me.
I'm Ethan, I've been playing music for about 1 and a half years, but it's been a big part of my life for much longer. Even before I was born, my Mum wasn't playing Mozart or nursery rhymes to me, I was listening to Air - Moon Safari (clearly their best album), Leonard Cohen, and Nina Simone and much more.
When I was 3, an "evil witch" appeared... her name 'Beth Prior'. At the time I was in full "Pint-Sized dictator mode". I wouldn't even let her cut my sandwiches! I was shortly swayed by the gift of chocolate buttons, so she's alright I guess. I can barely remember a time without my step Mum, and we're utterly inseparable now. She's been such a key part of my musical journey already.
The first time I "liberated" any of my Mum's gear was around winter 2024. It was a bass, 'Little Minty' and it remains in my room to this day. I picked it up and immediately loved it, and I'm really glad I picked up the bass before my guitar, since it taught me a lot about structure, rhythm, and the unique place each instrument occupies.
Over the next 6 months or so I saved up for my first guitar, which I finally bought in late May of 2024. I played a ridiculous amount over the next few months (probably an unhealthy amount) and played my first small set at The Hive Street Festival with my mentors Jon and Kate. I realised I loved playing live and would continue playing little sets at The Hive occasionally, performing with my friend Theo and John. At our last gig, The Hive Loopfest Fundraiser gig, I got a great offer to play at Loopfest!
To prepare for the gig and reach more people I decided to create an online presence, which led to this website, so, welcome!
You can use this website to keep up with my gigs, see what other people think of me, let me know you think of my music, and for contacting me if you're interested in booking me for a gig! *wink wink*
